Call for Papers for Issue 6.2 “Media Perspectives of Sustainable Development”

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 10 MARCH 2024

This open call for contributions for SEAMSJ issue 6.2 on media perspectives of sustainable development invites abstracts – and, if approved, full-paper submissions later – not only from scholars and practitioners presenting at the SEAMSC 2024 conference in Kuala Lumpur but also from all academicians and other experts in the areas of Southeast Asian Media Studies and sustainable development. 

Areas of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Role of Media in Sustainable Development
  • Media Coverage of Environmental Issues
  • Impact of Social Media on Sustainable Development
  • Communication Strategies for Sustainable Development
  • Crisis Communication and Sustainable Development
  • Global vs Local Perspectives in Media Coverage
  • Media Influence on Consumer Behavior
  • Challenges and Biases in Media Reporting
  • Innovations in Media for Sustainable Development
  • Public Perception and Media Influence
  • Media and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Media as a Tool for UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • UNESCO’s Influence on Media Narratives

Submitted abstracts adhering to one of the themes above or related themes and the SEAMSJ’s aims and scope regarding media studies in Southeast Asia will be considered for full-paper submission with eventual publication.

Notification of accepted abstracts: 15 March 2024

Full paper submission deadline: 1 May 2024

Double-blind peer review process starts: 15 May 2024

Double-blind peer review results: 1 July 2024

Revised full paper submission deadline: 1 August 2024

Layout: 1 September 2024

Target publication date: 1 October 2024
